Note for New Lists users: In New Lists, you can choose how enriched data is displayed:
  • Minimal style: Yellow highlights show your manual overrides (enriched data appears as standard black text)
  • Classic style: Green text shows enriched data (matches the colors described below) Choose your preferred style in Settings > Enrichment style. See Enrichment Display Styles in New Lists for details.
As you work within your lists in Affinity, you will notice that the field/column headers appear in three different colors:
  • Enriched fields (Green)
  • Enriched fields are auto-populated, provided by Affinity by default, and cannot be deleted.
  • Global fields (Blue)
  • Global fields require manual input and can only be manually created/deleted by account admins.
  • The Notes and Reminders fields are provided by Affinity by default, and cannot be deleted.
    • Global fields for people will appear across all people lists.
    • Global fields for organizations will appear across all organization lists, and also carry over to opportunity lists where relevant (See the section titled “How to use enriched fields and global fields from organizations in your opportunity lists” in the article: How to create and leverage opportunities in Affinity)
  • List-specific fields (Black)
  • List-specific fields require manual input and are manually created by Standard users, List Owners and List Admins.
    • List-specific fields can only be deleted by list owners and list admins only. Standard users will be able to delete list-specific fields that have no field values across the entire list.
    • The Status, Owners, Amount, and Close Date fields are provided by Affinity by default, and cannot be deleted (learn more).

Enriched fields (Green)

Enriched fields are automatically populated by you and your team’s email/calendar data, as well as Affinity’s third-party data providers.
  • Enriched fields will appear across all lists of the same type.
  • Enriched fields also appear under the General section within an entity’s profile page. Everyone on the team can see this data.
  • Here are some actions to be mindful of when it comes to editing cells within enriched fields.
  • If you add a new value to a cell within an enriched field, Affinity will stop auto-syncing for that cell and the remaining field values will turn blue.
  • The only exception to this rule is the default People field for organization-type lists: When people are added or removed from the default People field, it will continue to be enriched. This means that new people you interact with who have an email domain that matches the organization’s website will continue to be auto-added to this field.
    • If you overwrite all the existing values of a cell within an enriched field, Affinity will stop auto-syncing for that cell and the remaining field values will turn blue.
  • The only exception to this rule is the default People field for organization-type lists: When people are added or removed from the default People field, it will continue to be enriched. This means that new people you interact with who have an email domain that matches the organization’s website will continue to be auto-added to this field.
    • If you only remove an enriched value from a cell within an enriched field, Affinity will continue auto-syncing for that cell and the remaining field values will stay green.
    • To reenable auto-syncing for cells that have been manually edited, remove all values within that cell and leave it blank. Within the next 24 hours, the enriched values for that cell will resync accordingly.
    • While enriched fields from organization lists (e.g. Location, Industry, etc.) will appear on opportunity lists, enriched fields from people lists (e.g. Linkedin URL, Phone Numbers, etc.) will not be available on opportunity lists.

How are the enriched fields auto-populated?

  • Here are all the enriched fields for people-type lists (See the section titled “People lists” in the article: Types of Lists in Affinity):
  • Connections - Based on your/your team’s synced communications with the person.
    • Date Added - Based on when the person was added to the list by you/your team.
    • First Email, First Meeting, Last Email, Last Meeting, Next Meeting - Based on your/your team’s synced communications with the person.
    • Last Contact - Based on the Last Email and Last Meeting fields, whichever provides the most recent interaction date.
  • Important Callout: If there are 6 or more recipients on a cold inbound/outbound email, the email will not be considered for the First Email, Last Email, or the Last Contact fields.
    • However, if the email is a response to an existing email thread, it will be considered for the Last Email and Last Contact fields.
    • Organizations - Based on the person’s email domain and whether it matches an organization’s website/domain.
    • Source of Introduction - Based on your/your team’s earliest interaction with the person.
    • Time in Current Status - Based on the amount of time that the person has been assigned their current status, powered by the default Status field.
  • Here are all the enriched fields for organization-type lists (See the section titled “Organization lists” in the article: Types of Lists in Affinity):

    • People - Based on the person’s email domain and whether it matches the organization’s website/domain.
    • Source of Introduction - Based on your/your team’s earliest interaction with the people associated with the organization.
    • Time in Current Status - Based on the amount of time that the organization has been assigned their current status, powered by the default Status field.
  • Here are all the enriched fields for opportunity-type lists (See the section titled “Opportunity lists” in the article: Types of Lists in Affinity):
  • Connections - Based on your/your team’s synced communications with the people associated with the opportunity.
    • Date Added - Based on when the opportunity was created and added to the list by you/your team.
    • First Email, First Meeting, Last Email, Last Meeting, Next Meeting - Based on your/your team’s synced communications with the people associated with the opportunity.

    • Time in Current Status - Based on the amount of time that the opportunity has been assigned their current status, powered by the default Status field.

Why are some organizations enriched, while others are not?

  • Some organization profiles are not enriched because they are not part of Affinity’s global database of organizations.
  • You can tell if an organization is part of Affinity’s global database of organizations by checking for the Affinity Data badge on the bottom-right corner of the logo.
  • If an organization has the Affinity Data badge, yet still does not have the enriched fields being populated, it is for one of two reasons:
  • Reason 1 - The organization has not been added to a list.
    • Reason 2 - There are no interactions yet with anyone from this organization.
    • Solution - To trigger enrichment, simply add that organization to an organization list or add a person to the default People field.

Global fields (Blue)

Global fields require manual data entry and are available for all team members to view.
  • Global fields will appear across all lists of the same type.
  • Global fields (dark navy blue) also appear with the enriched fields under the General section within an entity’s profile page. Everyone on the team can see global fields and their field values.

List-specific fields (Black)

List-specific fields require manual data entry and are only available for the team members who have access to their respective lists.
  • List-specific fields will only appear in the list they were created in, indicated by black text.
  • List-specific fields also appear under the Lists section within a contact’s profile page. Only those with access to that specific list can see this data.
  • Opportunities are unique by design and can never be duplicated - therefore, all datapoints for opportunities are list-specific as well.
Note: Even though the Notes and Reminders fields are colored in blue within opportunity lists, they will still be treated as list-specific fields. This means that any notes or reminders assigned to an opportunity will not carry over to the people and/or organizations that are associated with the opportunity. Now that you know the different field types in Affinity and their functionality, we’ll guide you through the main sections of a profile page to dive deeper into a contact - whether that be a person, organization, or opportunity: Navigating a contact’s profile page.
